SNOW DAYS!

Snow days are becoming prevalent for so many of us throughout the country this winter season.  I know that my children have had their fair share of delays, early dismissals, and full days off.

So how can we make the best of these hours of unplanned time?  How about use this fun "Snow Day Schedule" and make it a day of nurturing your family?

You can follow this schedule to the "t" or insert some other activities that your family would enjoy in place of one they might not like.

Make the day a valuable one by choosing to spend quality time with your family!

SNOW DAY SCHEDULE

MORNING
Pancake breakfast-Let the kids help whip up some awesome and creative pancakes.  Add some fruit or chocolate chips to spice them up!  Here's a link for a recipe if you don't already have one:

Games-Break out the board and card games for some fun!  Pick some games that encourage learning...Go Fish, Memory, Cranium Brand games, etc.  Or, pick some action games like Twister, or Charades.

Outdoor Play-Don't let the snow go to waste!  Bundle up those kiddos and head outside to build some forts and a snowman...and don't forget a snowball fight.

AFTERNOON

Lunch and Hot Chocolate-Come inside to enjoy a nice grilled cheese sandwich and some hot chocolate.  (Be careful not to make the liquid too hot!)

Craft time-Plan a fun craft, whether it be coloring, cutting and pasting, or beading.  You can even use things from around the house to make fun crafts.  Gather up some TP rolls, some string or yarn, some old buttons, glue, tape, some old wrapping paper scraps, scrap ribbon, macaroni, and some magazines to clip.  You'll be surprised what creations your kids will whip up!

Bake a Treat-Treat your family to some baked goodness and let them help!  I enjoyed making homemade funnel cakes with my kids.  They helped measure the ingredients while I manned the fryer.  Let them sprinkle them with sugar or cinnamon and enjoy a nice afternoon treat.

Or, bake up some cookies to decorate and eat them later.

EVENING
Build a pillow/cushion fort-After having a healthy dinner, gather all of the couch cushions blankets, and pillows together and make a fort in your living room.

Family Movie Night-Pick out an appropriate fun movie for the family to watch together while you snuggle inside your pillow-filled fort.  Don't forget the popcorn!

Your kids will remember days like this forever!  Don't ever take for granted or waste the extra family time we get from snow days.  These are free days that can be filled with family bonding time.  Not only will your kids remember these days for a lifetime, you will too!
